One could argue London is best viewed from above – be it from the top of The O2 Arena or the London Eye glass-capsule. And what could be more enticing on a hot summer day than a sky-high glass pool rippling in the afternoon breeze?
Or perhaps not if you are afraid of heights.

Architecture studio HAL has created a suspended swimming bridge named the Sky Pool, located atop a 10-story tower connecting two high-end residential buildings, making it the world’s first transparent floating pool. The 25-metre-long freestanding acrylic bath is the largest of its kind and was thought up by the team at HAL on a “hot summer’s day” in 2013.
The Sky Pool, weighing a whopping 50 tonnes, is located at the Embassy Gardens development in up-and-coming Nine Elms, also home to the regenerated Battersea Power Station. From you’re watery vantage point you’ll get unrestricted views of the London Eye, Westminster, the Thames River, Houses of Parliament and the Shard.

Sadly, only residents will have access to the Sky Pool, and flats here will cost you a pretty penny, with prices starting at £1,015,000 for a two-bedroom home. The Sky Pool officially opened to residents on May 26th, and the final apartment launch takes place tomorrow (June 17th).
