Whether you’re on the road, travelling abroad or camping at a festival, having a dependable portable charger is a real life-saver. It’s often at the most crucial moments when we discover our phone battery is flat or our wireless earbuds have run out of juice.
I travel regularly and my hunt for one that is both dependable and long-lasting has been challenging. Many of the budget versions I have purchased have only lasted a few uses before they seem to give up the ghost – this is both frustrating and bad for the planet.

About the Anker charger
The Anker charger allows for wireless charging (up to 5W) as well as including duel USB ports which provide a total of 12W of power. You can charge multiple devices at once, which is very handy if both your phone and earbuds need some extra juice.
To use the wireless option, simply press the button on the side of the charger and place your device on the “ANKER” sign and it will immediately start charging. Within about 15 minutes my phone had an additional 10% of charge, and this was even faster when I plugged it into the USB port.
The wireless charger is compatible with the following devices: iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, Xs Max, XR, XS, X, 8, 8 Plus, AirPods pro, 5W Galaxy S20 S10 S9, Note 10 Note 9 Note 8. It also seemed to work fine with my Google Pixel.
The portable charger is made of soft rubber and has a nice weight to it (around 320g) and feels pleasant to hold. The rubber also acts as a non-slip surface so your phone doesn’t fall off mid-charge.
Along with the charger itself, the box includes a charging cable (you can charge your devices while the charger itself is plugged in) and a soft travel pouch.
The charger comes with a reassuring 18-month warranty.
Verdict: The device charges quickly and I like the fact I can just plonk my phone on top without having to faff around with cables.
