Jermyn Street and Duke Street are two of London’s most stylish streets, and the elegant Cavendish London hotel straddles them with entrances on each. It’s a fabulous location.
The reception area, though not huge is a bright space with flowers, lots of shiny beige surfaces, white walls and a featured chandelier that hangs over a staircase leading to the first floor that creates a sense of pleasing grandeur.

The concierge, looking great in the hotel’s livery, meets and greets and escorts you to the check-in desk and offers a bottle of water. They take your luggage and check you in. The experience is efficient, seamless, amiable, very friendly and warm.

The Cavendish London offers a great location in the heart of London between Mayfair and Piccadilly. The hotel has a business centre and meeting spaces that would suit business travellers needing a central location. Anyone wanting a city break in this well-located part of London would find this a very good choice.

The Cavendish London has 230 rooms arranged over 15 floors (the top belongs to a stylish penthouse suite), in a selection of sizes.
They have a slightly dated yet plush decor that is still in very good nick, which is a pleasing mix of muted beiges jazzed up with slightly more dramatic headboards and upholstery. As standard, there are tea and coffee facilities, a writing desk, a tv, ironing boards, air conditioning, complimentary water and a safe.
Our room 1411 on the 14th floor had a king-sized bed, an art-deco chaise long, a featured wavy-shaped wooden wall and a bathroom with both a walk-in shower and a bath. The wow factor of the rooms on the higher floors is the far-reaching views over London. A quick scan reveals Big Ben, the Eye, St Pauls, the Cheese Grater, the towering Shard, the Post Office tower and Centre Point. A night the view is colourful in lights and lovely to wake up to.
Food & Drink
The Cavendish London has a bar and restaurant on the first floor where all meals are served. The dinner menu is primarily British fare. Breakfast is a buffet with cheeses, cereals, and full English with a variety of fruit, bread and buns. There are la carte options too. Afternoon tea is served there too and appears to be much in demand.

The famous Fortnum and Mason is opposite on Duke Street, while its main entrance on Jermyn Street offers access to the shops offering bespoke tailoring, shoes and grooming for men. Ten minutes’ walk away is Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street, Bond Street and Green Park.
VERDICT: The Cavendish London has a very pleasant vibe, with warm and friendly service with easy-on-the-eye decor whose central location in London is ideal for a city break in London. What’s not to like?
